BREAKING: DSS ARREST MR. AGABA IDU FIDEL , A SUSPENDED NATCOM OFFICIAL FEW DAYS AFTER DECLARING HIMSELF ACTING DG OF NATCOM

Nigeria, May 22, 2024 - In a significant development, Mr. Agaba Idu Fidel, a suspended staff member of NATCOM, has been apprehended and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The arrest follows allegations of fraud, impersonation, and job racketeering.

Mr. Agaba Idu Fidel's deceptive actions came to light when he appeared on national television, falsely claiming a vote of no confidence on Adegbenro and asserting his takeover of the leadership of NATCOM in the absence of Amb. Dr. Adegbenro. Prior to this incident, Agaba Idu had been operating as the 'Interim Director General' of NATCOM, disregarding the authority of the Acting Director General, Dr. Adegbenro. His blatant disregard for the organization's integrity and his intent to defraud the public have been evident.

It has been uncovered that Agaba Idu and his accomplices have defrauded numerous Nigerians through the issuance of fake employment letters, never sanctioned by the Acting DG. Consequently, a criminal petition has been filed against him with the X-Squad Unit of the Nigeria Police Force CID, with ongoing investigations.

The apprehension of Agaba Idu marks a significant stride in purging the organization of nefarious elements who tarnish not only the image of the civil donor security agency but also that of the Nigerian state. We implore the public, especially media houses, to exercise diligence in verifying the authenticity of broadcasts or publications before dissemination.

We encourage individuals affected by Agaba Idu's illicit activities to come forward and share their experiences. As the DSS continues its investigation, further details regarding his unlawful and fraudulent conduct are expected to surface.

Signed: Management
